In a busy, complex world we create calm spaces, transforming homes into the restorative spaces our minds and bodies need. Through thoughtful styling and design, we can help you strengthen the connection between your home and your wellbeing.
At The Grey House Yorkshire we believe our homes can make a bigger contribution to our wellbeing than they often do. Once we have acknowledged we need a reset, there are usually a number of areas we traditionally look to change – improving our diet, doing more exercise, investing in relationships and tackling our work/life balance.
One crucial aspect of our lives that often gets overlooked, however, is our home. Even small changes made here can have a big impact. Perhaps because what’s needed may require us to move away from what we’re used to, or perhaps because we subconsciously perceive any changes to our homes to be an upheaval, we don’t prioritise them – but we should.
“I’m Clare, founder of The Grey House Yorkshire and an interior stylist with a passion for wellbeing. I believe our homes can help us find the calm so many of us crave. My passion to help others realise the restorative potential in their homes was born out of my own journey.
I experienced for myself the difference that certain design and styling decisions made to my surroundings and the hugely positive and calming influence they had as an antidote to a busy, challenging life. Now, supported by the eight guiding principles I have developed from my years of experience, I want to support and inspire you to find calm in your home.”
Creating a calm space can often be a lot about following your instincts, but over the years we’ve discovered that certain things seem to work time and time again. Not necessarily specific design or styling choices, but definitely principles. Our eight guiding principles have been developed from years of experience and they form the foundations of our work at The Grey House Yorkshire.
Our aim is to help you create your calm space. Here are the different ways we can work together.
Helping you define your calm space, researching options, creating moodboards and design visualisation.
Saving you time and effort by sourcing specific items to your brief and budget.
Working with you to incorporate pieces you love into your home and helping you create calm through a stronger connection with the things around you.
Sharing upcycling and renovation tips and skills so you can undertake some home improvement projects yourself.
Making sure everything goes smoothly from initial idea to finished result. This can include liaising with others such as architects, builders, designers and landscape gardeners.
